One Year Old

Xavier,

You are old year old today.  ONE YEAR OLD!  Its unbelievable.

We can't believe that on this day one year ago we were at the hospital welcoming you into this world.  You've improved our lives and hearts eternally and we love you so much more than can be put into words.

You've changed so much in these past twelve months- our sweet and swishy little baby has turned into a funny and handsome little toddler.  Just this past month has brought your first unaided steps and a slew of new tricks.  You can answer with a finger and/or nod of the head when we say "How old are you, are you one?".  Grandma taught you to raise your arms over your head and stretch when asked, "How much do you love your family?".  You can blow kisses and have continued to wave, clap and make Indian noises.  You are quite the little imitator and try to mimic what you see people do.  It's been so fun to watch your sense of humor develop.

You learned about sharing this month and enjoy giving things to people and hearing them say "thank you".  You also can point to things like light, fan, mama, papa.  Your favorite words are Durka Durka and we have no idea what it means but you say it all the time.  Its hysterical.  You are also becoming a big flirt and you make a trip to the grocery or a dinner out at a restaurant so fun for all the ladies around you by giving them a big smile when you can catch their gaze.  Momma has been told numerous times this month what a heartbreaker you are going to grow up to be.

This month was a busy one and we traveled to Flagler Beach while papa had to go to Spain for work.  We went in the ocean and pool and just had a blast but we missed papa terribly.  He brought you back presents and matching Spainish soccer jerseys.  You were so happy to see him you didn't want him to put you down for long time.  When Auntie Jean came to visit we went to the pool, Loggerhead Marinelife Center and Sea World.  You had so much fun with her.  Then Uncle Nick came down from New York to see you for your birthday.  You had fun trying to make it hard for him to put a shirt on you.  Then Grandma Barbi and Grandma and Grandpa Pegg came down to join us all for your special party.  You are such a lucky and loved boy because the amount of presents you received was unbelievable.  We all enjoyed watching you open your presents and then eat a GIANT piece of cake.  No joke.  It was giant and you loved every bit of it.

Your favorite things right now are still anything blue, anything with wheels, knobs or buttons and any sort of remote control.  You will eat just about anything (waffles, chicken, fish: you name it) and are a great sleeper.  You still take two naps a day and will sleep through the entire night.  You are learning the word no and will tell us when you are done eating or drinking.  You are drinking cows milk now and seem to like it.  You are have taken about 5-6 steps in a row before falling and continue to get better and better each day.  You also seem to be really adept at throwing and will throw with both hands.  Papa is already planning our trips to watch you play for the Yankees.

Xavier,  we hope you know how extremely lucky we feel to be your parents and how deep our love for you goes.  Thank you for being you.

Durka Durka,
Mama and Papa
